PMT = Preventative Measure Tasks

There are many jobs required to be solved approaching winter which are not to do with the wildlife – like to ensure the trail roads survive the cold weather or the drainage of severe rain or snow will not cause problems with surrounding areas. The trail roads are needed throughout the year to allow access for heavy equipment for maintenance and moving trees and debris, access for fire engines and other emergency services. If they are not maintained correctly, there will be major problems in getting funding in the future.

The tasks required could include :
– strategic ditch digging to ensure the rain and snow does not damage roads or trails
– digging up selected trees for replanting (once some tree types are asleep for the winter they have a better chance of growing in a new area)
– bracken brashing – less chance of this weed growing back if culled regularly.

Task advantages :
Forestry understanding : 1/5
Forestry skills : 1/5
Exercise level : 1/5
Fun level : 4/5
